Takshanuk Mountain Trail by 4x4 Tour Brochure (1.9MB)
Bring the entire family along and get ready for an Alaskan wilderness adventure on the Takshanuk Mountain Trail!
Board a fast ferry and travel approximately 45 minutes, along the Lynn Fjord, to the town of Haines. During your journey, enjoy commentary from your guide whom will point out numerous sights such as wildlife, waterfalls and mountain peaks.
After arriving in Haines, you are driven to the Takshanuk trailhead. The Takshanuk mountain range is located in the heart of the Tongass National Forest, a temperate rain forest, and literally means "land of falling waters." Beautiful waterfalls and crystal clear creeks are just part of the natural scenery you will drive through on your way to the panoramic views at the 1,500ft. elevation sub-alpine meadow. Receive a safety briefing and an orientation before climbing aboard your fully automatic Kawasaki Mule.
Take the wheel of your very own Kawasaki Mule and join our friendly and knowledgeable guides as you journey through spectacular views of mountains and forests, including a panoramic view of the Lynn Canal and Chilkoot Lake.
Journey along a well-groomed trail to your first stop at the exclusive mountaintop lodge where you will enjoy a warm fire, fresh out of the oven cookies, lemonade, coffee, hot tea and hot chocolate. As you venture on, bring your camera along to take advantage of the magnificent photo opportunities on your journey through the lush forests of this pristine Alaskan wilderness. Some of these opportunities include crystal clear mountain streams, a cascading waterfall and a scenic alpine lake as you make your way to the 1500ft. elevation sub-alpine meadow. Here you will experience the panoramic view of the Lynn Canal, Chilkoot Lake and the many snow-capped mountains which make Alaska one of the most desired destinations in the world!
On the way down you will stop once again at the exclusive mountaintop lodge to enjoy a warm fire, stunning views and a wonderfully prepared Halibut and BBQ chicken meal! (Vegetarian meals are available with a 24 hr. notice). Once you have eaten and chatted by the fire, make your way back to the trailhead to say your good-bye's! Next, climb aboard the Takshanuk Trail buses and enjoy a short tour of Historic Haines and Fort William H. Seward before returning to the dock and your scenic cruise back to Skagway.
