This tour boasts the best chance to see moose with over 1,500 spotted last season. Enjoy the scenery in Haines during the narrated drive to the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. Where the road ends, your adventure begins as you board a jet boat and cruise miles of scenic tributaries.

Your boat is designed for this silt-laden river and is the only access to a remote, roadless portion of the preserve. The boats are uncovered so you can view and photograph animals unhindered.

Waterproof outerwear and lap blankets keep you warm. Wild animals give no guarantees, but we have a very high success rate of seeing moose and bear. The moose are accustomed to our boats and used to our presence so have your cameras ready for once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunities. The scenery alone is worth the trip with cascading, hanging glaciers and surrounding mountains that soar to 6,000-foot heights.

Next, enjoy an old-fashioned hot dog roast over an open fire. Chili, chips and dessert enjoyed in the comfort of a covered, heated pavilion complete your meal. Sip hot beverages around a crackling campfire before your return cruise back to Haines.

TOUR TESTIMONIALS

  • I took the tour in July and it was fantastic. I just wanted to share with you the great picture I got of this eagle carrying a salmon. Our tour with you was the best excursion that we took during our cruise and I recommend it to anyone that I know is going to Alaska. Thanks for the great memories from our tour. Sincerely, M. Nygren
  • Just a quick note to let you know what a fabulous time we had on your tour September 4th. The veg chili rocked! And the dogs over the fire were delish! But the trip itself was made so much more wonderful because of our guide/captain, Sean. He was as enthralled with the river and all it had to offer as we were. His extension up-river "to explore" was well worth it. You guys live in heaven and we can't thank you enough for sharing it with us.
Thank you, thank you, See you again soon (we hope).

  • My wife and I were in Alaska last year on the Norwegian Cruise Line. We chose your bald eagle preserve wildlife quest. It was one of our best trips. We enjoyed cooking our own hot dogs. All your food was great. We love wildlife and your boat trip was great. We saw a moose, eagles and geese. Our boat captain made our trip very enjoyable. Our bus ride to your place took us thru beautiful conuntry, my wife saw a small bear on the way. Also, our Native American bus driver was very informative. Thank you for providing a very good and pleasant experience.
