Klondike Gold Fields Tour Brochure (0.8MB) arrow

Ride the White Pass & Yukon Route rails in style, tour The Klondike Gold Fields and re-visit the Gold Rush era, and experience the life of a prospector on this outstanding, fun-filled family tour.

In the comfort of your group’s private, historical, White Pass & Yukon Route railway parlor car, a costumed escort straight from 1898 will entertain you and share personal stories of Gold prospecting. The tour is complimented by a historical narration provided by the White Pass & Yukon Railroad crew. The train ride follows the same route that thousands of prospectors endured on foot in search of Gold.  While you embrace the breathtaking panoramic views enjoy a snack of cheese, crackers, cookies and chocolate.  Raise a glass of champagne or sparkling cider at the White Pass Summit for a one of a kind Klondike toast.

Transfer over to a motor coach for a short drive down the White Pass to the Klondike Gold Fields. There you will be immersed in the wild history of the Klondike Gold Rush and incredible views of Harding Glacier, the Skagway River and Snow Capped Mountain Peaks. Our Dredge Master will acquaint you with the historic 1937 Gold Dredge. The Dredge weighs in at 350 tons and is a Gold sifting machine brought back from the Klondike and reconstructed piece by piece on the shores of the Skagway River. Behold images of the Dredge in action, hear the voices of hardy old-timers who toiled under the Midnight Sun for the recovered Tons of Gold. Short videos and audio presentations show the intrinsic people and places affected by the Gold Dredge during its 60 years of operation.

On the tour you will learn the art of Gold Panning from our Prospectors and practice your technique in heated water troughs.  After you’ve assuredly hit pay dirt, you can weigh your fortune in the Gold Parlor.  You may choose to transform your memories and newfound fortune into a fine piece of jewelry, charm, or business card for yourself or loved ones back home.  The bezel is the perfect way to preserve the elegant beauty of natural gold. Price ranges for every budget. A gift for everyone can be found at the Gold Parlor, which has the finest selection of Gold Nuggets and Gold Quartz  Jewelery in Skagway.

Visit one of the historic "cribs" on site and view a collection of Alaskan artifacts, whalebone, ivory, and local hand carved artwork or simply take in the stunning views by taking a stroll down the banks of the Skagway River.

The past will come to life when you visit Gold Relics Room where photographs, artifacts, and interpretive displays show you how a prospector lived.  Your family can step into the past by dressing up in authentic miners clothing  and have your picture taken!  Our tour has a relaxed pace, is wheelchair accessible and can be easily self-guided.

Stay as long as you like and meet your friends on the deck of The Gold Rush Brewery for a micro-brew, a glass of Denali Wine, or fresh brewed root beer.  The shuttle runs continuously back to the ship or town.
