Klondike Gold Fields Tour Brochure (0.8MB) arrow

Feel the Lure of Gold and experience the life of a sourdough prospector on this rollicking, family tour!

The adventure starts with a tour of historic downtown Skagway.  On the way to the Klondike Gold Fields you will be regaled with facts and stories of what made Skagway the Gateway to the Klondike. There you will be immersed in the wild history of the Klondike Gold Rush and the incredible views of Harding Glacier, Snow Capped Mountains, and the Skagway River, which is only steps away.

Our Dredge Master will acquaint you with the historic 1937 Gold Dredge. The Dredge is a 350 ton Gold sifting machine brought back from the Klondike and reconstructed piece by piece on the shores of the Skagway River. You will see images of the Dredge in action and hear the voices of hardy old-timers who toiled under the Midnight Sun for the tons of Gold to be found.  Short videos and audio presentations allow you to travel back in time and view the people and places affected by the Gold Dredge during its 60 years of operation.

Learn the art of Gold Panning from our Prospectors and practice your technique in heated water troughs.  After you’ve assuredly hit pay dirt, you can weigh your fortune in the Gold Parlor.  You may choose to transform your memories and newfound fortune into a fine piece of jewelry, charm, or a business card for yourself or loved one back home. The bezel is the perfect way to preserve the elegant beauty of natural gold.  Price ranges for every budget.

A gift for everyone can be found in the Gold Parlor, which has  the finest selection of Gold Nuggets and Gold Quartz Jewelry in Skagway.

Visit one of the historic "cribs" on site and view a collection of Alaskan artifacts, whalebone, ivory, and local hand carved artwork or simply take in the stunning views by taking a stroll down the banks of the Skagway River.

The past will come to life when you visit Gold Relics Room where photographs, artifacts, and interpretive displays show you how a prospector lived.  Your family can step into the past by dressing up in authentic miners clothing  and have your picture taken!  Our tour has a relaxed pace, is wheelchair accessible and can be easily self-guided.

Stay as long as you like and meet your friends on the deck of The Gold Rush Brewery for a miners meal, micro-brew, a glass of Denali Wine, or fresh brewed root beer.
